מגּידוּת

Although the term “Maggid” means many different things to many different people, the “working definition” we use at Wisdom-Heart, in a nutshell is:

A Maggid is a ‘peoples’ spiritual guide who can fulfill most of the ritual functions of traditional Jewish spiritual leadership. A Maggid seeks to embody the holistic tradition (mesorah) of Judaism in everything he or she does.

The authors of this blog, current maggid students and those having recently received smicha, invite discussion and conversation on the essence of maggidus. Are you a maggid? What does being a maggid mean to you? Do you aspire to be a maggid? What will your service look like? In what context will you practice? How does your work differ from that of a rabbi? teacher? other Jewish spiritual leader? How do you define maggid?
